  Hi Jabes, i measured my Rickenbacher Electro. There's just 3/16 inch wider at the last fret mark from the nut width. They are not as tapered as a regular guitar. Wider string spacing is common also.

  Hey Jabes, yes most all lap steels taper the fretboard. Not a lot but some. Also, the strings don't go all the way to the edge of the fretboard as you aren't reaching around the neck. That lets you see the string on the edge. Lap steel is very visual for me. I have to look at the neck and see the strings and fret markings.
