I found this fantastic site when googling for my new project. After discovering that seasick Steve played on something called a didley bow I realised I had to build me one of those and now that I'm (almost) done with it I really really
Initially my question was 250KOhm or 500KOhm but I found the info pretty easy. Rather than a specific question here I'm hoping for some fill in the blanks type of discussion, since I am missing a lot of information and not just some single point.
This is my first attempt at a CBG. I am almost finished. I put a piezo on the underside of the neck located under the bridge. It will not pick up any sound. The piezo works. I've tapped on it. I am getting a loud hum when I plug into an amp. Can any
I'm really, really new to soldering. My first soldering ever was on my cigar box guitars I made for Christmas. I'm having trouble getting the solder to stick on the case of the pots. I have no problem elsewhere other than getting globs and it not
Ok, a buddy of mine is having me build him up a cbg. He's pilfered some parts and wants a pup in it. I've done one before with a single mag using the kit I got from gitty. But this one, he's got the pickup with the black and white wires on it, and th
Here's a diagram that shows how to wire 2 pickups in parallel with independent volume potentiometers, with output controlled by a 3-way switch. Design and circuit elements derived from Ted Crocker diagram and from text available at CBGitty. I'm goi
I have a set of magnetic pickups and a piezo pickup I want to wire my box to play on one, the other or both at once. Can anyone point me to a good wireing schematic or offer some sage words of wisdom?
Also, before anyone ask I really don't have a goo
I have just strung up my first four stinger. So far is has just a humbucker pickup in it. No piezo. There are no pots for either volume or tone, just the pickup to a 1/4" jack. The strings are grounded as is a steel bar that reinforces the neck. The
I am doing my first build and currently my Nut is a nail and my bridge is a piece of oak. I am using half a pbass pickup, with the bridge being wood do I need to add a copper strip or something to the bridge so I can ground the strings?
came across a momentary switch that is able to momentarily kill the guitar when pushed and immediatly un-kill when let go. Anyone have experience wiring one of these? It has three poles. I would guess it is wired like a simple two-way toggle somewher
Probably a stupid question, but can a small amp be installed in a CBG to be used as a pre-amp? This kind of goes with my previous discussion of using amplified computer speakers as an amp. What I'm thinking is if I take the PCB guts from a set of p
I have my lap-steel project about ready to assemble. The cavity for the single-coil pickup is just a hole cit inti the body, and the pickup and the rest of the electrics will be mounted on a pick guard made of 1/8" hardwood ply.
Do I need to sheild
Bought a basic amp card from CBGitty, and used local parts to build this (my first) amp. It is only a 9 volt, 2 watt box, so it's not expected to have much volume - but - you can hardly hear it at all!
I found a couple of magnetic pickups at a garage sale for next to nothing but they have 3 wires on them. I have only worked with P/U's with 2 wires. What's the 3rd on for?
My next piece is going to feature a tune-o-matic bridge and a short, Kay-style trapeze tailpiece. Since both are metal, doesn't only one of them have to be grounded? Or would i need two separate ground wires to each piece?
