This is the second CBG I've built. Used red oak from a big box store for the neck. (It's what I can find and afford). Wired in a humbucker and a parallel wired pair of piezo disks to aftermarket tele-style controls. I call it "Old School".
I like to take along a guitar when we travel, but I worry about banging up a full sized acoustic. After looking over the available Travel guitars, I decided to build my own.
The neck and body are constructed from Mahogany. There is no head stock. Ins
Here is a photo of my latest project. It is a metal bodied resonator. The body is constructed from 26 gauge sheet metal (Home Depot special). The neck is hard Maple with a Walnut fret board.
This is my second resonator project and my first metal body
I just attended my first CBG festival in Albert, Texas a few weeks ago. I've started buying some parts from CB Gitty but they don't have necks wide enough for six-string CBGs.
Anyone have a source for that? I've Googled it and found fretboards, but
Up here in the northwest, (Washington State) they make nicely decorated gift boxes for smoked salmon. This top is from the Quinault Indian Nation for their smoked salmon. I made a larger cedar box to put under it using box joints, then made a maple n
Hi guys, new to this section, I'm building CBG,s, it's fairly new to me, but I have been playing 6 string guitar mainly blues for over 50years.
Recently I was talking to a pal who I went through school with, and gigged with for many years, and was te
Having built all manner of things, I now have a rather crazy notion to build a Godin guitar. Well, not REALLY... But a nylon-string semi-hollow 6-stringer with primarily electronic sound.
But I really don't want to build and carve a neck this tim
Not sure if I shared this before, but based on the information I came across here and other sites, I took the dive and designed and built my first six-stringer. It's a resonator built out of solid mahogany.
I've been on CBN for a few months but this is only my 2nd post.
I came across CBN after buying a cheap nylon acoustic before christmas to learn on and decided I could build one better myself. I haven't yet made a cigar box guitar but
I'm building this rather different from the norm. I have a solid piece of Malaysian Rubberwood(Oak) from a chair seat that I had lying around. I've made guitar bodies out of this wood before with great results. My plan is to route out a cavity in the
I've built a number of three and four stringers over the past year. I recently started collecting bits and pieces for a six-string project. I have some nice humbuckers, a wrap around bridge, tuners, strings, a truss rod, roller nut, pots, caps etc. I
I've never built a six string, but these questions should be pretty easy: Since we require a larger box for a 6 string guitar, where do you guys find your boxes in the right sizes? Are there any particular brand/type of cigar boxes I should search
I am planning a CBG with a vintage factory neck and silvertone bridge. How far apart do the nut and bridge need to be to get good intonation? I don't have the mounting plate for the bridge. But I have the mounting plate for the neck (not pictured). J
Hi all. I have a 6 string acoustic guitar carcass in my parts collection. I was wondering how difficult it would be to use the neck off of it on a CBG project? I've searched on the site here and while i did find photos of acoustic guitar necked CBG's
I'm planning on making a a 6 string cbg using a old strat neck i had (im not skilled enough to make my own neck) and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to use as a bridge? Im a bit stumped
Stumbled into cigar box guitars by accident, now I want to make one for my brother. Have a 3 bottle wine box he gave me and would like to make a six string resonator. Is it reasonable for me to make it electirc or is that too much for a first timer?
H guys has anyone tried making a six string resonator guitar,I have just taken deliver is a 9"old Lowe's cone and one of his latest cover plates and was wondering if it would be possible Regards Mal(UK)
