This is the second CBG I've built. Used red oak from a big box store for the neck. (It's what I can find and afford). Wired in a humbucker and a parallel wired pair of piezo disks to aftermarket tele-style controls. I call it "Old School".

Good looking guitar you made there Dave. I've used Red Oak for all my necks and fretboards. Red Oak is reasonably good at working it, sturdy, good looking grain, takes stain well and offers a nice bright tone IMO.
This is one of the most complex carving projects I've made to date. The tone on this one has a depth to it and is less "Tinny" than my first. So many firsts.
Glad everything worked out. Of course now that you've learned how to do it with great results, you'll have to build some more. Hahaha
