New to CBG Building

I just attended my first CBG festival in Albert, Texas a few weeks ago.  I've started buying some parts from CB Gitty but they don't have necks wide enough for six-string CBGs.

Anyone have a source for that?  I've Googled it and found fretboards, but not complete necks.  I'd like to find something 1 3/4" wide on the tuner end to maybe 2" wide at the body, similar to a Yamaha acoustic steel string that I have.

Thanks,

Ken

  • Gutiarfetish.com sells discount necks that may need some work done to them because they are cheap.
Rondo.com has a parts page with some reclaimed necks under $40.
Allparts, Stewmac, Mightymite and Rockaudio are a few other online guitar neck suppliers.

    • Thanks, Craig.  Found one on Ebay that I'm going to try.

  • If you're not into building your own six-string neck, then look for bold on necks on eBay. Then you can use a piece of hard wood as the through-box portion of the neck and attach the bolt on neck to it in the same way they are attached to solid body guitar.

There are bolt kits available that even allow you to change the neck angle a few degrees which is very useful during setup.
