I was wondering if there exact measurements that you need to follow when building a Dulcimer. Can you make the body what ever size you want? Is there a scale length you have to use?

Thanks for the friend request Randy!
Anything I can do for ya?
Oh my gosh, don't cut the Tulip. It's beautiful. You'd have to have some crusty icy cracked relic to want to saw it up. I thought you had such an animal. I see hope for all of my relics and wouldn't cut them up unless they are hopeless. I do have some such that were stored in too hot of a situation and they folded up like old jack-o-lanterns. I use what parts are still good. I did get my Tulip off ebay today. I was the only bidder and got it for 150. It has two pickups, that's what caught my attention. The Tulip i have has one pup, so this new baby will be interesting.
Hey friend, thanks, Dave
Just get out the band saw Randy. Hope your old electric deserves such treatment. You could hollow it out and add a nice spruce top to it. I like a thin neck on mine. A tenor guitar screw on neck would be dandy. Or a tenor banjo neck. I'd leave all the frets. I've gone to a full scale. Dulcimer fretting is ok, but i like all the note possibilities. Playing a G and long D strumstick led me to tenor banjo. I tune my tenor banjo the same as my strumsticks. GDG for the short one and DAD for the long stick. Now my grandchildren have my sticks. Your idea of using an electric guitar is a neat idea. I've got some junkers that might like being strumsticks.....
Hey Randy, sounds quite fair for a price. Thanks for offering it. It's a beauty. I've a couple of bids on similar tulips on ebay. It will be a few days before i know. I offered 150 for one and a little less for a different Teisco. We'll see. I know i like my tulip better than anything else i have. She's very sweet.
Hi Randy, say how much is that Tulip you are selling? Thanks, Dave
Hi Randy. Thanks! I mentioned the dulcimer because of ease of play, and if you build an electric it will play in the low ranges. Here's a picture of mine..
Thanks for the friendship Fella.
