Jazzy blues on 3 string GDg
Lots of Jazz players use Flatwounds & Hollowbodies, but there are lots of players who don’t, in fact, there are many players who use Solidbodies & Roundwounds, so really it’s all in the way you play?
Jan , the “Search” bar at the top of the page can be your best friend, there are many answers to your questions archived within it? Jazz players use Medium & Heavy strings, but you don’t need different strings or tunings to play Jazz? Jazz & Blues is achieved by the way you play the guitar, if that makes any sense?
hey quick question, what strings and tuning should I use to play jazz chords? both for 3 and 4 string instruments. also, where would I find chord tabs for jazz chords? any help is appreciated.
Books are still good, t-belly. Hopefully the one you've found will be what you need :0) All the best to you!
Cheers Dani & Ol`grey Bear. I`ve found a 4 string ultimate collection on ebay UK so I`ll probably go for that.
Isn`t it amazing.... the internet has made us forget about using books as its normally freely found with a quick google search :)
Hi t-belly. I personally don't have any charts to offer but I bought a book that's crammed full of chords, scales, riffs, licks and all you could ever need to know. It's called "Master the cigar box guitar! 3 string GDG & 4 string GDGB Cigar box guitar technique book" by Brentwood Robitaille. I THINK they sell it here at CBGITTY too. Hope this helps :)
Guys, can anyone help please. I`m not really much of a player and only strummed a few chords on 3 stringers I`ve built. I`ve retired now and have time ( I hope) to learn to play a little.
I recently picked up a 4 stringer I built a few years ago and tuned it gdgb and plugged it in. I was very happy with the sound and I`ve been strumming major chords and it`s great fun.
The problem I have is I can`t find anything other than the major chords. Does anyone have any chord charts I can use to improve?
Thanks in advance
