Tuning for a 2 CBG-Bass
I'm new to this (computer's) so hope i am doing this right. I have been a member of CBG for 5-6 months now, and have built several 3 stringers, a 4 string bass, and a uke. This is my first 2 stringer, called Macanudoa 61\4 in x 12 in box. The neck is a south American hardwood that is brown in color until you cut it then it turns firy red with some orange color to it. It is frettrd on a fretboard made from oak, set up with Gittys pick ups and volume, tuning four string setup.I,m not sure about…

But from limitations, comes creativity! --Debbie Allen'Tis a gift to be simple, 'tis a gift to be free! --Simple Gifts Joined the Nation back in Fall of 2016. 1st build was Spring 2016--a stick-on-top 3 stringer. But later had some kinda wierd epiphany, dropped the 3rd string & built a 2-stringer back in Sept. Dowel-necked, fretted, simple home-made tuners, and open tuned to E-B on a 24 inch scale using bronze-wound classical guitar 6th & 4th strings. Nut is just two slotted pan-head…

Here's a new 2 stringer that I based on the infamous chugger video. It has a 1 1/4 round dowel neck with a thrift store jewelry box body. The tuner and tailpiece holes are covered with gear decorations. I equipped it with a piezo pickup. It's tuned D-A. I cut notches to mark the fret positions (24" scale length) and used 3mm flat back crystals for dot markers. The nut is 2 flat head screws.
One little quirk with it is that the low D tuner is first and the high A is last. I had to arrange it this way because I cut the headstock area a bit short and I had to squeeze in the tuners to fit.
I am glad I found this interest group! Due to hand injuries I think that a "chugger" is going to be much more likely to produce music for me than a 3 string. I've got an "Acid" cigar box that is going to be the box resonator for my first build, which will have a replaceable plastic scale on the side of the stick, so it can indicate diatonic, etc. scales by just magnetically tacking on the new plastic scale. Am considering 1.25" hickory stick for the 26" neck and threaded brass rod for the nut and bridge. This is still in the very early stages of design, just thinking on paper so far.
Does anyone out there have an idea as to what strings and what tunings J.P.Soars uses on his 2 stringer?...
Hi 2 stringers, I thought I'd put some of my recent builds.
I got one 3 stringer and one 1 stinger in there.
Hope you enjoy them.

I just wanted to share that I have a new favorite tuning for my slide canjo. Double octave E. E2 and E4. It's got a weird trashy/campy sort of feel. I love it. With the coffee can twang it is quit bizarre how the two strings ring together but they almost sound like they shouldn't.
