  • Willie, thanks for your reply.  Ted Crocker also put me on the track with some construction details, but he didn't know gauge of string.  You really made the old gal sing.  do you know is there is any extended vid of you playing it?  the video I saw was a compilation of your playing at the (turns out that it was Penn.) festival and only had about 20-30 seconds of you on this diddley bow.

Again thinks, I'm building something at this time which is an extension of the principles involved in the Metropolitan... (essentally a diddley, lap steel, played upright).

    the best,

  • Willie,

I was going through some old video from the Huntsville festival.  a brief clip had you playing a diddley bow, guitar style, that might have be made from a scrap of plywood.  black and white, sorta guitar shaped, strung with a wound (lower note) string.  Can you give me any info on this diddley bow?  I could use some help, would like to use this idea as a starting place.

  • Hello! I know ya know me, but....My name is Kevin M. Kraft, founder of the annual Kansas City Cigar Box Guitar Festival. This year's event will take place on August 26th, and once again I am accepting cigar box guitars and cigar box guitar-related donation, which will be raffled off during the festival, the proceeds to benefit Kansas City's Blues in the Schools program. If you have a guitar, accessory, CD, DVD--anything related to cigar box guitars that you would like to donate, please contact me at the Cigar Box Nation or email me at kevinmkraft@juno.com  to learn where to send it.

Thanks for you time and consideration.

  • Thanks for the add & all the advise you've given me thru email. The 2 screwdriver attack is starting to swing!
  • Hello,

I saw on one of the discussions that you recommend using brass escutcheon pins for position markers and I would like to do the same. I cant find any in local stores and have to order them. Can you tell what size you've used?

    Thanks,

  • Thanks for the comment on "John the Revelator"  Elemental and I were pleased with the results
  • thanks for the kind words Willy. I think I am ok with strings my wife is sending some. The cbg is my little moment of zen in this too fast paced camp here. Still we have a 98 per cent survival rate here so the work all pays off. Thanks again for reading and commenting on my post. I love your music all the way around by the way

  • Ok, so I'll admit. When you hear CBG music over a computer, it sounds ok [read: good] but when you hear the masters in person... It blows you away! One String is the MAN! I could not believe how much he could do with just that wire. Not that I hadn't heard before, but somehow... I dunno. Magical is the only way to put it.

Great show! See you next year!
