Thats the straight truth of it too brother, I am one generation removed Appalachian hillbilly and I went back to the hills. I grew up in the mindset make it yourself and make do. Toys, tools, everything. I love making instuments. The only problem is playing them. Took this one to a teacher and she looked at me like I was crazy. Been trying to learn from books, but with out comparison to other players and a none "standard" fiddle I never new if my technique was even close to "standard". So I got the "proper" one to practice "proper" playing then I can do my own thing...thats a lot of quotations ;-)
