I have made several fiddles now. I have ben wanting a really small fiddle for backpacking and travel. One of my goals was. Reducing the bulk of packing a fiddle so I was aiming to make it straight. Also I wanted to play with the shape of fiddles so for the soundbox I cut the profile of the entire soundbox and neck from a a single 1x6. I then sawed out the interior of the soundbox amd glued some thin birch plywood to the top and bottom.

Fishing line I believe it is G-50 D-20 A-20 E-8. I had to sand them to get the bow to grab. This on is extremely quiet. Thinking I am going to switch to steel 1/2 strings I think that will raise the volume some.
