I had to add the ring to keep the pan away from the back of the guitar. Ended up adding to the look, out of all the ones I've built it still has the sound and tone I like.

That is beautiful Randy! I love the ring around the reso. The very first banjo I made as a child used a pan like yours. Angle food pan. My banjo didn't hold up well as I didn't know about the neck through concept yet but it got me started.

Yes it's a cake pan with the hole I find them at garage sales for about $10. There a fast fix for this kinda build and put out good volume.

Nice! I have a couple acoustics "in not so good shape" & have been thinking about doing something similar myself. Maybe try a resonator build. "One of these day's" ....lol
