  • Hi Lee - Thanks for checking out my latest video. You asked about my rhythm section - well I'm using Ableton Live and the Native Instruments 'Battery' plugin for drum samples - along with some cool loops and samples of a real drummer in action. Cheers -
  • Creating simple exercises to improve fingering skills is a good idea. For this reason many guitarists practice scales. Maybe not the most interesting practice, but they do focus mainly on accuracy and timing in an efficient way. Additional, exploring the scale and trying to create or find simple melodies like Happy Birthday adds ear training too. My old computer finally crashed. So tomorrow I am off to buy a new one. Once I am back to production, I am going to post an arrangement of Silent Night that is also a basic chord and finger picking exercise. It will utilize the 3 basic major chord shapes that I taught in the Devil tuning video. Enjoy.
  • Thank you for your comments. I try my best to keep the material understandable, but I understand completely because I can clearly remember how I struggled with it too. There is certainly a clear science behind music, and it takes time to get the picture together. In this series, I am going to keep the theory behind the music, off the videos. It will be just the bare bones needed to locate chords. A lot of chords. I want people to enjoy playing their builds. I encourage you to keep exploring theory. This is a real good book:

  • Thank you for your purchases. Please feel free to write if any questions arise as you work through the lessons. I am interested in your feedback too. Enjoy.
  • Welcome aboard, Lee! You will find lots of helpful folks and information here on all things CBG (CBU, CBB, etc.) Feel free to poke around, ask questions, and post your stuff (photos, recordings, videos, etc.).

Up in the Free Resources menu at the top, you will see a number of plans for building and playing cigar box guitars/ukuleles/banjos/dulcimers/violins. I encourage you to download any of the plans, take a look at them, and ask questions from there. Also our site is VERY searchable. I bet you your questions have already been asked, so take a few moments and look around.

Join our Chat sometime (see the bar at the bottom of your browser page). Keep in mind that tho the chat window says there are X number of people online, not all may have the chat window up.

    Most of all, have fun!

    -Wes
