My most recent build was my first electric. I was surprised to see how well a piezo pickup actually works, since it was my first one. However, it is a little quiet and a LOT tinny. If I don't turn the "high" setting down to about zero on my amp it
Is it possible to make a 4 pole pickup act like a blade style pickup? Could I attach a steel bar across the 4 poles and have the pickup work? I will be using this mag pickup on my 3 string CBG.
I started making CBGs about a year and a half ago and it's sparked a lot of what I was into when in a couple of bands over 10 years ago (building speaker cabinets, wiring up amps, and modifying guitars). Sadly, I got busy starting a family and my gui
Hi all, working on a build, long story short.... wanting to run a piezo bridge and a flatpup neck through a mini 3 way toggle, each with their own volume so that they can be blended in the middle position.

Hullo All.I have a secondhand humbucker that has 3 wires, red, white and bare and I want to bench test it to see if it works ok by wiring it up to a jack.I'm pretty sure the red wire is live (hot) and the bare wire is an earth but I'm not sure about th
One of the hardest things it seems is to effectively shield your wiring & solder joints. I found that liberally coating your disks & solder joints with this stuff is the quickest and easiest way. It's surprisingly cheap and goes a long way.
Should an AC amplifier be grounded with a three-prong plug? Mine is an old Peavey Rage 158 from the late 80s and although it has a polarized plug, there is not a third ground wire. This seems potentially dangerous. Also, I am wondering if it may be p
I have a problem with a piezo pickup harness kit (from CB Gitty) I wired up. In short, it sounds great when the volume pot is turned all the way up, but when turned down just a little, there is a very distracting hum.

I want to add a pre amp to my next build to go with my rod piezo , what I want to know what's the difference between a active or passive wiring apart from the fact that one uses a battery
I want to wire two piezos on a cbg. I want to put the piezos in different places and use a toggle switch to change the sound. Can anyone help with a diagram please? I have no volume pot just 2 piezos and the toggle switch. Thank you
I'm building a Biscuit Tin CBG for my daughter and all she wants is a piezo and jack plug to keep it simple , but what i'd like to know is do I need to isolate the jack plug from the tin ?
Hi everyone,
I ordered a switch described as on-on-on from eBay.
