Should an AC amplifier be grounded with a three-prong plug? Mine is an old Peavey Rage 158 from the late 80s and although it has a polarized plug, there is not a third ground wire. This seems potentially dangerous. Also, I am wondering if it may be part of the hum problem I am having with my disc piezo when below full. Thanks in advance!

Yes, definitely. If you can, find a spot on the chassis that is metal, then attach the green wire as your grounding conductor. Hope this is helpful to you!
Thanks. I upgraded the cord to a three-prong cord. The ground is attached to a bolt & nut though the metal frame, and I sanded down to the metal at the head of the bolt. Much better. I can't believe the amp was UL listed without a ground wire, but it was the 1980's when it was made.

Sounds like you did a great job with it!
