Normally, I'm one to balk at ever raising race as an issue to contend with of my own accord, but...I've been unable to find any black/African-American/Negro cigar box artists other than myself either here or at sites like Cigar Box Nation. I even too
So, I am working on my first build and I have NO idea how big to make the holes for the tuning pegs. I bought the machine heads from a friend of mine when he rebuild one of his guitars.
Any help would be GREAT!
Peace and chicken grease,

I'm sure this has been discussed here but it seems to me that if there are no rules to making CBG, which means "for me as soon as I pick it up and strum it's called music even if it sucks" where does the heritage go.... OK Any Box... I get it, But wh
This is an Acid CBG that has the laminated neck I was experimenting with. I eventually just taped it off and used white spray paint for the middle section of the neck. It has a piezo that was dipped in PlastiDip, and then sandwiched between 2 thin pi
....if the photos were specific to CBGs, and didn't include pics of airshows, family gatherings, and Photoshop experiments. I like to scroll thru the photos to see what creative ideas others have implemented when building their instruments. Right now
For my next build I'm wanting to build a bass, but I have a couple of concerns.
1 - Will a piece of 2 x 1 oak be able to withstand the pressure of bass strings? I prefer using as heavier gauge as possible you see.
2 - Will a piezo be alright to use
So I finally, finally, finished my first CBG and as mentioned earlier, I 'lectrified it with the speaker element from one of those musical "talking" cards. You know, the kind that sing happy birthday or some other sillyness when you open them.
Well,
Home Depot (local) has started carrying 1x2 sticks of maple. Lil cheaper than oak, lil more than poplar. I usually do all my shaping by hand, poplar is a dream to work but not as strong as the oak. Maple looks to be somewhere in-between. Anyone got a
I'm working on my tenor Ukulele putting in fret markers. I see some here that have them in space 3, 5, 7, 10, 12 and 15. I looked on the internet at tenor Ukuleles and most appear to have the first marker in the 5th space. Is there a reason, am I see
What's the best method of cutting down the part of the board for the headstock? I tried to do it with a small hacksaw tonight and almost ruined a perfectly good oak 1x2. I need to shave it down to 9/16ths for my tuner bushings to fit right. About all
Hey, I've ran several sites with message/forum boards and have found it's really nice to have the forum/message board broken into sections.. it makes it easier to find specific topics and what not.
Just my two cents, I've found a lot of help on here
Anybody have a source for the piezo transducers other than Radio Shack? My local store only gets them in 2 at a time every couple of weeks. I'd like to order some in bulk without the wires attached and am unsure of where to order from and exactly wha
hi guys, after info on resonator setup, i want to build from scratch rather than buy parts, is it possible to make / improvise resonator parts, and does anyone have experience in this or useful links. how much leeway in shape etc is there from the fa
Does any body have any information or ideas on how to wind a pickup that would sound similar to Angus Young's signature Seemore Duncan pickup? I rather like the sound of the Gibson SG guitars. I am thinking of laying out a neck about the same length
Greetings from Finland!
I am building a six-stringer from a Cohiba cigar box and a neck retrieved from a broken Eko acoustic guitar. This is my first cbg, but until now I've been progressing remarkably well considering my poor carpenter's skills, heh
i have a couple boxes with thin tops, how do i attach the neck to these kind of boxes?
do i just cut the notch into the body so the neck fits in and the lid will close on top?
if this is correct then when the strings are added on then you can't open
So I have an inkling for a double neck guitar. Cant say why, but the idea was there, so I guess I gotta build one now.
I was thinking of a diddly on top & a 4 string on the bottom, with the necks angled out from a common tail piece to give playing s
