Mad Dog . After I built #1 , I went to Ape Over and checked your CBG's . Sweet ! You are the first actual "builder" out here . Back east "everybody" knows about CBG's , but out here in the "Couve" , "They're still blazin' the trail" . Word out on the street is you "hang" just South of Dairy Queen at the High School Hardware . And I'm wondering why the plumbing/hardware bins are always "empty". HAHAHA!!! Meetin' up and throwin' around some ideas sounds good . Keep on spreadin' the word my brother , cause there's a wave headed our way and it's gonna be a "big" one !
Raised up in a "guitar" family (I'm 51yrs) , my Dad being born on the Delta and my Grandad a full blown cajun , I grew up hearing "stories" about the "old time box guitars" every Sunday after church and supper when the family gathered "round for some old time music . Ten years ago just before he passed my Dad built me a beautifull "D18" style . He started with mill rough , bent in a burning barrel of water . I said "dad , I would like to build a guitar" . His responce was "Rich , why don't you build yourself a "box guitar. 6 Months ago I went to Ape Over Music for strings and my life changed . Thank You .Rich
Thank you, Mad Dog for the close up pic of the zero fret. Do you use a fret wire that is a size larger than your other fret wire? Or do use something else?
Thank you very much.
Very nice builds. I noticed you said you use zero frets and like them. Could you show me a close up of one of your builds using a zero fret? I am not sure how to do a zero fret. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
