....if the photos were specific to CBGs, and didn't include pics of airshows, family gatherings, and Photoshop experiments. I like to scroll thru the photos to see what creative ideas others have implemented when building their instruments. Right now there are over 8,000 photos posted, most of which are CBG related. I would hate to see that trend go in the opposite direction.
As Shane says on the main page, "This is the new networking site for all things cigar box guitar."
Sorry if I'm the only one that feels this way. Hate to be a stick in the mud.
I was thinking, this guys an a$$, I know there is the occasional picture that just doesn't belong...blah, blah.
Then I went to the photos, always my second stop when I log on...WTF?...make that stop now! It hurts! My eyes! My eyes!
David - You're not the only one that feels the way you do - I just didn't want to be the first one to bring it up - I too am gunshy in this "Politically Correct" world any more - Thanks for firing the first shot - I'm behind you shooting and getting ready to reload ;^)) - DB
I too try to be very Politically Correct, I dont like to upset anyone, and I think very carefully about which 3 or 4 pics (out of the 20+ I take of each build) to post to display my work best, without clogging up the system and boring everyone. So yes, I get p*****d off too when 29 photoshopped pictures of a dude appear WITHOUT a CBG in sight... whats the relevance?
Pictures are an essential part of what we do here, and its already getting difficult to find stuff (tags people, tags!), so lets not fill it with irrelevant vanity.
(ps no offence to the poster of the offending material - its just not what we are about. Build a CBG and post some pics of that huh?)
Pss Um, I assume you do build or play a CBG....??)
I think if a regular posting member of the nation posts a pic that he finds interesting or others may find humorous, that's one thing. Someone outta nowhere spamming alot of self-advertising is quite another.
I think the occasional non-cigarbox pic is ok... Non "cbg style" instruments that people are proud of and want to share should be fine, and anything someone hand builds from scratch is at the very least within the spirit of cbgs. I have a picture up of a family gathering where I happen to be playing one of my builds in the background, that fits the theme I think.
But I agree that a page worth of non-sense pictures is annoying and should be monitored somehow, what's that guy's problem?
Jkevn - Well put - One person putting up a pic that one other person may not care for once in while is one thing - What this guy(insert fowl word of choice) did today is a whole nother thing - Unfortunately there's always going to be an (insert fowl word of choice) in every group you're a part of whether it's on the web or wherever - If Shane could ZAP this particular guy's stuff and make it disappear back in to cyperspace I would vote in favor of it whether that's politically correct or not I'd still like to see it done - DB
This aint my site, and my opinion only counts as much as anyone else been here three months. I've never logged on this site that there wasn't a wealth of (related) info, or someone to chat with. Just chapped my a$$ when I saw that.
