I play in a weird tuning which I think may be open A flat to suit my voice.

My A harp works when I play blues starting at the third fret.

But I cant find a harp to work when I play starting from open position (open A flat I'm guessing?)

(basically it's open type D configuration of notes,  but up a few semi tones etc)

So logically if an A harp works when I start playing blues on the third fret, you would think an G harp may work on the open position, but it doesn't.

I think if I may be possibly playing in A flat hence would I hence need a F sharp harp, which I don't have.

Does this make sense to anyone and can they advise, bearing in mind I don't know the actual tuning?

It's a head twisting riddle I know, can anyone help?

(other than get a tuner out an figure out what open tuning it is)

After many failed attemps at fretting I am planning to try again and after some help.

1) What is the best fret wire to use?

2) What's the best scale length to use?

3) What is any string height compensation required against scale length?

4) Could I be using incorrect strings and will that make a huge difference?

What is the trick to making these work and play well?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

(This is clever on an old banjo I have for just an interesting photo, note brass tube to typical 6 string tuners one not used, I kept my kids tooth to make a banjo nut from shhhh dont tell the tooth fairy)

Hi there! Sorry if I mispelled something, I am learning english.

I am new to the world of the CBG's and well, yesterday I just finish my first cbg and I though it was OK, but then I start to try to learn the basics but it was impossible! I don't get the same sound of all the other cbg's!

I order the CBGITTY starter pack and I just made it, I didn't use the nut and bridge that the pack had because I though it was very high (I play bass and a little guitar so I though it would be very high!). I put the tailpiece in the box, not in the bridge, I don't know how to say that, but for that are the images. I tune in OPEN G and my digital tuner tunes ok, but I think those tuning pegs are just horrible, they don't stay in tune, I THINK, or maybe I am doing something wrong.

It's electro-acoustic with a piezoelectric pickup and electric as acoustic the sound is different from other cbg's around youtube and other places.

1. Do you think I must put the bridge and nut from cbgitty?
2. The action is low or high?
3. My amp is a cbgitty's one, volume and tone, I play acoustic guitar no electric so I bought a nice OLIVA gitty's amp, THAT COULD BE A PROBLEM IN ACHIEVING THE DESIRE SOUND?
4. Is pretty dificult to get the OPEN G tuning because a slightly turn in a tuning key and the G or D is GONE!! THE TUNERS COULD BE A PROBLEM?
5. What must be the note that goes in the first fret of the neck? Iam getting a B flat in the G's and in the D string an F sustained (I DONT KNOW IS THAT WHAT IS CALLED IN ENGLISH a "bemol" and a "sostenido").

I am in a new proyect in doing a 6 string 3/4 scale CBG, and I am almost done.

One single coil and a piezo for that electric and acouctic sound, but I am in a dilema.  HOW TO USE THIS SWITCH IN THIS DIAGRAM FROM TED CROCKER?

I know there is a switch in cbgitty that is the same as the one in the picture,but is golden hahahaha and all my hardware is chrome :P

Dear CBG friends, I' a musician from the far Europe, Hungary, lute, guitar and cigar box guitar player, and I'm looking for a tune that I hope you can help me to find. This is a rag tune, I can't remember its title, nor the composer's name, my uncle, who was a piano player played it in a Ragtime Band on stage 35 years before. Unfortunately he had already forgotten the title and the composer too, the only one I can recall is the tune. I made a midi file scoring the tune with some accompaniment I tried harmonizing - maybe this is NOT the original one, but the tune itself must be correct. Please, if you' ve heard this ragtime_milyen.mid rag tune, tell me the title and its composer, or, if you can, the locality of a copy from this rag. Score sheet, midi or mp3 - what you can send. Following on from my post gig report I can confirm that the total raised on Sunday for Help for Heroes and the MS Society Charity gig was 625 pounds!
