Dear CBG friends, I' a musician from the far Europe, Hungary, lute, guitar and cigar box guitar player, and I'm looking for a tune that I hope you can help me to find. This is a rag tune, I can't remember its title, nor the composer's name, my uncle, who was a piano player played it in a Ragtime Band on stage 35 years before. Unfortunately he had already forgotten the title and the composer too, the only one I can recall is the tune. I made a midi file scoring the tune with some accompaniment I tried harmonizing - maybe this is NOT the original one, but the tune itself must be correct. Please, if you' ve heard this ragtime_milyen.mid rag tune, tell me the title and its composer, or, if you can, the locality of a copy from this rag. Score sheet, midi or mp3 - what you can send. I'm a member of cigarboxnation, but you can send me a private letter to also here: [cthulhu@citromail.hu]
Thanks for it! Bencze Balazs, Hungary

okay its not The Entertainer but sounds very like Scott Joplin's stuff. Clock and Wolf I think why it sounds familiar is cause the melody sounds like a couple of bars of Lil Liza Jane with a rag chucked around it... its not of course it goes somewhere else after that but I think thats whats ring the bells...
I couldn't get this to work, but if it's from the sting it's called the Entertainer and i think it's by Scott joplin
Sounds like the sound track from movie "THE STING" with Paul Numan & Robert Redford
Thank you! Please, try it to recall, or else we' ve made another man mad with this tune! As a matter of fact I was the first of us, and my uncle, (who had played it on stage and have forgotten the title) was the second, but now even my whole family starts to be lunatic for it, because everybody feels that you mentioned: "Well, maddeningly familiar, but what it is?"
I asked also Warren Trachtman, the famous ragtime expert, but no answer from him :-(
That sounds maddeningly familiar... I just can't place it!
