Reverb Box

"One thing's for sure, those cheap circuits never cease to amaze me in so many ways. I think that with my cheap LM386 amp it even sounds better than the built-in reverb effect on my Vox DA5 amp. I also discovered by accident that if the battery…"

"In the ad for the circuit I got, they say that resistor R23 is the reverb depth control. If you remove the resistor and solder a 20k-50k pot on the S-G-G solder points you can control the effect."

Reverb Box

This is my new Plate Reverb box.It contains a PT2389 Karaoke Reverb circuit (no pre-amp version) which sounds awesome. The best 4$ I ever spent on a circuit like that.I wanted to use a real cigar box but felt it was too big for nothing. So I opted…

"That's right. I got the one without preamp as I didn't want to have the signal come into the amp too hot. I figured that if I want to add a preamp I can always add it in a separate box. And besides, the one without the preamp is cheaper…"

"Last night I tried the circuit out using alligator clips just to see if it worked. This is the best 4$ I've ever spent on a circuit. This thing is AWESOME! While there is a bit of hum when I put the effect at max, it still sounds great. And…"

"You could try my skunk removal recipe. The solution oxidizes pretty much anything. 1/3 cup dish soap 1/3 cup hydrogen peroxide (the regular first aid one) 1/3 cup baking soda. Mix so it's the consistency of pancake batter. Apply, wait a bit…"

Tap stomper side

"Forgot to say, I need to rewire the piezos as I find I don't get as much click as I'd have expected. This one would definitely work a lot better with a regular mic set next to it."

Tap stomper side

"You can but it's not obvious as the tap soles were designed for the dancer to do spins. So they are unstable. But I can do a click-stomp type beat with a bit of practice. Strangely, in order to do that you need a surprising amount of…"

Turning song writing miseries to fun.

Ahh... song writing. Sometimes, it flows and sometime it doesn't. And when the white page we all hate gets to be infuriating, what can we do?

Well, I was tired of being a shoddy songwriter and decided to do something about it! So I fired-up my favorite drawing and illustration program and got to work. And after many evenings trying to figure out how to make a system that actually works (and listening to many songs noting the words that struck me as useful), I was able to finish the…
