The Beater

I built this box to test and see if I could mount this recycled neck onto it.To my surprise it worked out first crack. I then black washed all the wood and sanded it, then I tung oiled everything. I used knitting needles for side fret markers, an old cloth covered iron cord for a strap...and an old saddle of another junker I have kicking around...thing plays and its intonation is nice...Just that damn crooked box....lol at least it works Video soon!

  • I like the rustic comfortable look.

  • Sweet!

  • Reeds, I like it and I like beaters.  I do not want to be careful about not banging a git or getting upset if it falls over. Play em!

  • Cool!
  • Beaten like a 3 egg scrambler!

  • Thanks for the kind words...

Muddy I use diluted acrylic craft paint...I really water it down...and then soak the box, let dry entirely....then sand...works out ok for me...

  • Very nice.  Gotta love those beaters.  I have one too.  A paint can lid reso.  The box is made of "Vanwood"  Vanwood is the scrap wood I find in the back of my van.

  • I love this look! What did you use for your black wash? It turned out great!
