    It's 17". Diane In Chicago settled on that scale as ideal for kids- also the diatonic fretting, so I thought i'd give it a try.

    What's your scale length on that? About 20 inches? I'm wanting to make one for my daughter too, but was thinking a shorter scale length, maybe something in the 14 to 16 inch range. Yours looks real nice.

    No, it's not wired for sound. It's my daughter's. She's 9. First let's get a handle on the fingerwork, then we'll crank up the volume.
