New Flatpup guitar pickup covers! These brass tins were not etched, but stained. First, the negative was printed by a laser-printer, then the images were ironed onto the cleaned metal surface. The paper stuck on the metal, it was soaked in water and removed carefully. Onto that negative image on the tin I applied "Nerofor", the exposed metal got a nice browning. The pickup cover is the result of an accident - I liked the result. Finally, I applied some layers of a "Zapon"-lacquer to protect the metal from oxidation.

Dan, the brass tin is wrapped around the edge, the pickup is shifted inside. The left and the right side are closed by wooden covers. The screws pass through them to be able to mount the pickup. So, there's no wooden surround, just the wooden covers at the side.
Although I'm very happy with that brass staining results, I think I won't sell pickups showing Jimi Hendrix - just to avoid property right issues. What would be more suitable for us homemade luthiers would be something free to use, provided by a colleague.
Yeah, a CBG hero collection would be interesting, but being so many heroes here around, I'd build them upon request. Jimi Hendrix as the most famous CBG player is already done, next I'll display my buddy Chris Fillmore.
The price I'm thinking of is 46 USD for the four stringer and 56 for the six stringers.. Are those feasible? Generally, the three and four.stringers are cheaper with respect to the effort - kinda club-discount ;-)

So are the brass tins a sheet of brass on top of a wooden frame?
Fantastic! (-:
change in plans. I'd rather keep them as give aways than selling them due to concerns regarding copyright issues..
Good prices Elmar.
