I have thought about doing a straight neck on a 6 but think the taper is more comfortable and it is what everybody is used to having for a wide neck. Thanks Andries!
I figured the caulk - this is like silicone, will stay put and not run inside, and also stay soft and pliable and cushion the metal to wood contact spots. I wasn't sure if the wood glue would shrink over time, then maybe leave a gap and allow a rattle inside. I have traditional store bought guitars with glue inside that came loose and rattles around the guitar body.
Tell me why caulk? i know the french use it for building chimnees, but in the Neck? why no wood glui?use a taper end myself also non adjusteble , i can see why you use it! great stuff there Rose

Your Blooming !
Hi Michael, yes, non-adjustable. I use the bracket hangers for shelving from Home Depot. Very stiff with 3 sides to resist bending and twisting.
Hi John, I do this on all the 6 string builds so far.
Hunh. I did not know you did that.
Interesting! So a non-adjustable truss rod, of sorts? What item are you using there?
