I'm going to check out the Makerspace in Appleton WI tonight (https://appletonmakerspace.org/about-us/). Nice woodshop and a lot more for $50/ month membership. I'm hoping I'll be able to get an occasional membership, and then go in every 3 months or
I bought this last week off craigslist for $25. Works great as a preamp with my cigar box guitar amps, and I especially like it as a diddley bow preamp. I've hooked it up to a cheap 10 watt guitar amp, a high end bass combo, and a classic tube setup,
Some of the other fun things I've built to go with the cigar box guitars... I tend to use cheap-as-possible parts, but good to excellent drivers are easy to find in thrift stores, rummage sales, etc. Most of the speakers in quality boom boxes and sma
I never see anyone post about this, though there could be a group for it. I can't keep track of the groups except through e-mail notifications. So... Let's talk about part of the reason we're all here. Cigar Boxes! I'l number them so they're easy to
Cross posting from my amps thread. If it's not normal forum rules to cross post, let me know...
Out Sound Fuzz Master custom (Ibanez Standard Fuzz clone) & Dr. J Shadow Echo. This one will peel the paint off yer walls! Sounds warm and sweet clean...
Doubt there's a lot of grindcore fans here... But gear test with a (more or less) regular guitar and my CB Amp / Cab with a Boss HM2; the Swedish Death Metal in a can pedal. No blues. Just noise. :)
I imagine most folks here build there own... But this is more for fun demo videos. I sell these amps for about $85 ppd. 15 watts, 10 x AA battery only. Quiet clean to medium volume overdrive. Loud as heck with any dirt pedal. Highest quality recycled
OK, so it doesn't have any strings. It does use a 7 string guitar humbucker for a pickup! Inspired by Shane's video from a few weeks back. I love washboards, have two non-electric ones. So went to eBay and found a cool inexpensive washboard. Longer w
Didn't quite know where to post this... Not really a 'performance', this amp isn't for sale, it's not really build related... But some great sounding smartphone footage of me beating up a riff testing my newly built amp with a Black Arts Tone Works B
Some fun stereo 4 string CBG riffage with two amps. OctaveDrone is a pretty harsh weird fuzz, towards the end it's total slag. Hall of Fame reverb pedal is going to be endless reverb enjoyment. Overdrive I normally use with bass but works well for CB
What are you all using for four string CBG tuning? I'd prefer something open, but I'm such a powerchord nerd a lot of open tunings sound odd to me. I don't do much, if any, chording on the fretboard on this guitar.
Just wondering what folks use to play their CBG's, or even other home made instruments through...
I have a bunch of guitar and bass gear. For CBG's, I tend to use an overdrive or fuzz, a Blackheart Handsome Devil (inexpensive 7/15 watt tube amp), and
My first build was a one string electric cigar box bass, but I didn't take pics. The Howler is a Delta Grooves neck, a big ole' Undercrown box, and the best parts from my parts bin.
