My build #3 is getting a piezo pickup and body refinish for the Halloween Contest (Imp Hand 3 string).
This one I just finished yesterday. Morgan is the name of my old dog, lost her in 2012 to wrecked ACL's, and I put more time into this build than any other one. Turned out sweet. Body is another Undercrown cigar box, the smallest I've found. I've got two more in between this and the one I used for The Howler, but this was the right size for this project. Used a vinegar / steel wool stain for the body, multiple layers to get the color wash.
Pickup is a GFS Wild Dog mini-humbucker. Used these before, they are loud as heck and mean as a junkyard dog. Had to put foam inside the body because it just BOOMED bass without it. CTS 500k pots for volume tone, paper in oil .047 tonecap, switchcraft jack. Got the pickup cheap and new off ebay, the rest were the very best of my parts box stuff.
Bridge is my design, bent brass. Bridge pieces are some Graphtech's Tele's that were on clearance at GC. Intonation on this beast is spot on. Action is still just a little high. Have it tuned DAad currently, a set of dark green ernie ball 56 / 44 / 16 / 13. Tried DGbd too, didn't like it as much.
Neck is a Delta Grooves I got off eBay, great deal on a neck from them. Sapele fretboard, maple neck. Neck and body got a coat of Tung oil, fretboard got about 4 go thru's with F One oil.
