My father and I are two different kinds of craftsmen. My dad grew up on a farm where you did what you had to do with whatever you had. The tools weren’t the best and often not the right ones but he figured out how to get by with them. As a kid I…

hey Don thanks for your friend request, you are welcome in my house blues
Thanks for friending Don :-)
Thank you Don for your friendship. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance. Enjoy.
Hi Don.
I took part in the Skype conference call last Sunday. During that call there was a mention of a slim pickup that looks like this.
I wrote down the name so that I wouldn't forget it. Unfortunately I didn't write down where I was going to put the piece of paper with the name on. Do you remember what this is called?
All the best.
John
I did quite well over the years buying old 1930 Stella, but recently I bought an expensive wallhanger. Yikes!
Restoring Is really is a labor of love that can be a money pit.
You can find them cheap and may have the smarts to restore, but like you said, buying sight unseen is a shot in the dark.
I just thought I would post some finds from time to time. Maybe to stimulate builder's imaginations or help them find a treasure worth bringing back from the brink of death. Parts may be useful. Patterns can be made. Etc.
I just have a romantic love affair with old guitars. They may have issues just like old people, but I love them just the same. Something about holding the same guitar, that was played in the period is very empowering. Having said that, a brand new guitar is great too, just like a hot knife cutting through cold butter.
Thanks again for sharing. Enjoy, Keni Lee
Up in the Free Resources menu at the top, you will see a number of plans for building and playing cigar box guitars/ukuleles/banjos/dulcimers/violins. I encourage you to download any of the plans, take a look at them, and ask questions from there. Also our site is VERY searchable. I bet you your questions have already been asked, so take a few moments and look around.
Join our Chat sometime (see the bar at the bottom of your browser page). Keep in mind that tho the chat window says there are X number of people online, not all may have the chat window up.
Most of all, have fun!
