Note: no CBG content.I decided to cover this classic Paul Simon tune for Mother's Day. The way I see it, this song is about accepting our mortality and just living life. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.

  • I concur heartily Kale. I put Bridge Over Troubled Water and El Condor Pasa in our songbook, but it will take some serious work on my part to play either!!! No one has picked them yet. Feelin’ Groovy is my go to Paul Simon tune; a simple repeating pattern.

  • I've done a few Paul Simon tunes and I've noticed he likes to change chords often. Also, he really likes throwing minor or 7th chords in with major chords. Additionally, he tends to sing a little differently (not always on the root) which makes it challenging if you try to simplify the chord. For instance, if he's singing in G over a E minor chord, you'd have better luck transposing that as a G5 than a E5 (despite the fact that it's an E chord). Anyway...I agree...  there are some songs that just don't work well for the 1-finger style. The vast majority work though.

  • I had to take a look for myself Kale. You are right, the chord changes are spaced pretty tightly with some serious movement for 1-finger chords. I experimented a bit with the chorus, not as familiar with the verses. I found I could leave out a few chords which helped. Not sure the chart I pulled up had all the chords correct anyway (a regular occurrence)! I’m pretty used to personalizing charts to make them more playable, but there are songs that defy my best efforts!

  • I couldn't quite get this one to work on CBG. Too many chords. LOL.

  • I always enjoy the song stories! I haven’t heard this one in years! A blast from the past. Where’s your cbg?

  • Thanks AD, Dave, and Rope.

  • Great PoornessStidios! I heard Simon quoted as saying the idea came from a Chinese restaurant menu and a dish with eggs AND chicken called the Mother and Child Reunion. He said he just had to use that in a song.

  • Morphine for Mother’s Day Kale? :*)

  • Happy Mothersday Kale !

  • I didn't know that fact. Thanks Brian.
