  • Thank you, Andries! Yes the mind is a fickle thing to use and crack. Kind of like music! It certainly helps having lived some and experiencing and observing. I appreciate your comments very much!

  • Its not easy to go that deep, and ponder the Mind so openly Derek ,Great Ballad ! i can say more but you'l bee getting a Big Head ! and we won't want that to happen, But getting Older and writing about feelings and singing about it liberates and gives other people insite in there own greef or other proces that go on in ones life, only writing and singing about it is not allway's easy whit words of ones own. But you do a pretty good Job of it ,like the saying Say's Keep on Keeping On ! Greeeeeettssszzz A.D.

  • Jeffrey - you are gonna give me a big head! Thank you, I appreciate the encouraging remarks!

  • Jim, I think the chords became more intricate since the words were oddly timed initially. Then the chords did help refine some of the lines as I worked things out a bit. I lucked out on that "trouble like trains" line! It almost didn't make the cut until I realized cargo rhymed :)  Thank you for the comments!

  • Thank you James, always appreciate kind remarks from fellow songwriters! :)

  • Thanks Clock, Wes and Uncle John. I use a capo a lot for the singing, so it is a must that they have good intonation. Probably helps that this build has a zero fret. Thanks!

  • Another amazing song Derek. You have a great talent for the lyrics and your playing is outstanding. I have listened to your songs repeatedly and continue to enjoy them. Thank you for posting wonderful and original music.

  • That is another wonderful original Derek. Some pretty intricate chord work in there too.I particularly like "trouble like trains rolled away long ago, leaving behind their heavy cargo" That's poetry right there my friend!

  • Very good song and Finger Picking just Good all the way around Song, playing, and Vocals Great Job Derek

  • I'm with Clock and Wes.   Good song and playing and voice rings like a bell.

I'll tell you too, a lot of CBGs don't play well with a capo.  Yours does.
