Okay, I have the neck fretted and the body ready to go on my first CB bass. I built it 30"scale from nut to bridge. Going acoustic with a piezo pickup. The question is.....does it matter if I use a longer length string. I know I need acoustic string…

Jeff, I can usually make a fiddle in less than a week but I'm working on orders for 3 other instruments right now. If the customer does want one I should be able to finish it before Christmas.

Hi Jeffrey, good to hear from you! I usually sell CB Fiddles for
$175 - 225 depending on several variables.
Fiddles have a few things that make them a bit more difficult than gits but nothing insurmountable. If you use a pre made finger board and bridge that will save some headaches. Getting the radius correct on the finger board can be tricky. You also need to do some research on soundpost purpose and placement which, I think, is crucial for a good sound. There's also a bass bar on the underside of the top. It can be frustrating to get a good sounding fiddle from a cigar box but it's certainly do-able.
thanks man, its very inspiring here - I enjoy browsing around and checking out all the innovative ideas!
Absolutely Jeffrey! You do postage to me, I'll play it and do a vid, then I'll do postage back to you. Unless I like it a lot - then we'll talk.
