Despite this song being almost 10 years old, it's always hard to sing. I decided to add this original to '8 songs in 8 days' series. Though it sounds uplifting, this one has a darker meaning. It is a serious topic that affects millions of people. If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, take it seriously.

A Zevon reference always makes me happy Derek. LOL. Thanks for the feedback man.
Excellent tune and I think the upbeat performance is perfect. Go with how YOU feel and that is what is right. Plenty of great tunes have taken this approach. Warren Zevon wrote upbeat songs about murderers and contemplating suicide ("lay my head on the railroad tracks, waiting for the Double E") and were hits for him and others (Linda Ronstadt, for example). This song would work as a punk song too.
I never really thought about AED being your initials but yes... it's a universal chord progression. I'm using the A, D, and E chord forms but the guitar is tuned 1/2 step high so it's actually A#, D#, and F.
Thanks AD, Doug, and Dave. It's funny how it's still hard to sing a decade later.
Happy sounding sad songs are very common. But I agree with Uncle John. It’s definately a blues or folk song in a Peppy upbeat package as it stands.
You blew me away Kale. It’s a good song. It’s a hard way to go. I’m crying.
DEA or AED ,either way my enitials, play loads of songs , against the end it sounds like a edited synt in there but it was the wind playing tricks on you i believe, or did something go rong in the mix ??
That's a Recording King parlor. I got it off eBay a couple years ago and it was said to be in "barely playable" condition. A few simple adjustments and I had her playing great. I know it's not a CBG, but it kinda seems like one to me since I was building a lot of CBGs at the time.
