  • Thanks for the inside look, John.  Very helpful.

  • The tuners are standard friction peg uke tuners. I'd seen this sort of cut-out headstock on an electric guitar years ago, and Fluke make ukes with this sort of headstock too.  I like it  because it keeps the headstock nice and light, but you do need to make sure you are using a piece of timber that's strong across the grain, as it's inherently quite delicate.

Here's the box before the electrics went in - a simple heel block for the screw-on neck with some longitudinal strakes along the back to the tailblock, veneer reinforcements to the soundholes and simple  bracing to the top.

  • Wow!  I likee!  I was gonna' tackle a uke build soon.  Mind if I use yours as a model?  Where do you get those straight stem tuners?  That's exactly the type of slotted neck I want.  Thanks for sharing.  How's it sound?

  • Nice job John. Very nice looking headstock.

  • i was just about to comment on sound holes but you already said it, like the open headstock,

    leaves are a nice touch

  • I'm getting close to finishing up a tenor uke also but mine doesn't look nearly as nice as yours.
