  • Hi Jerry, I see from the picture you have 'braced' the inside of the box so increasing the thickness of the sides.  Does this affect the sound quality / resonance of the guitar.

    What is the thickness of the top and bottom?

    The reason I ask is that I live in Thailand and cant get genuine cigar boxes so Ii will be building my own and I see the thickness of the wood as being critical to the build.

    Your advice would be most welcome and helpful

  • I did that on that 1933 box I did last year. I run into the guy every now and then and he says the guitar is working great. I think you’ll be ok. 

  • Two bolts? Looks like your walls are reinforced. If you use lighter strings, you should probably be OK.

  • It looks strong, but a bit heavy.  The top should sing out nicely.  Good wishes.
