My son wanted to learn the steps to build a cigar box guitar, so I had him do the steps while building his own: 3-string fretted with a maple neck and walnut fretboard mounted to a "Star Wars" lunch box. If he never builds another, at least we had a great day bonding over building!

  • I certainly don't WANT him to stop. I was just amazed he was willing to take a few hours off from video gaming in order to do it! It's really the first time he's shown an interest in building with me, though he has built a few christmas presents with his grandfather. I know I only intended to build one myself, and built #56 this weekend... hopefully he will remain interested enough to come join me again. Though I suspect he's going to wait until it's a little warmer out in the shop!
