  As far as a hack goes.,.,a tube manual for that specific pre-amp tube, with a pin out of the tube socket would tell you where to solder leads to the pre-amp tube socket.,.,but there are lethal voltages in there that need to be bled off before you play with the internals.,.,probably best to consult a local buddy who has some experience.,,.still a cool radio .,.,

  Great memories, Dave!  I like 'auto corrupt'!  Reminds me of a text I was sending from my phone to a Purchasing manager a few years back; her name was Gretchen.  Fortunately I looked over the message before hitting send....it began, "Dear Wretched..."

  Auto corrupt! Yup, opera Gary. He would lay on the couch with a cigar pointing straight up so the ash wouldn't fall off listening to opera. A jigger of vodka on the coffee table nearby. He thought the cigar tasted best as long as the ash stayed on... Then it would fall off on his chin and he'd jump up out of his reverie. :^)

  Coolness.  But one question about yer dad - he loved 'Oprah'?  Perhaps 'opera'?  ;-)  Makes more sense with the 'long hair' comment!  (Blame AUTOCORRECT!!)

  Ya Jerry. I'd like to learn how to hack em. I have a tiny tube amp that needs a new cab. It's old sponge board cab broke in shipment and the speaker reaped havock in the tumblar. Tubes sideways, still worked right off. Another survivor.

  Paul, I'm not clear on that yet. The paper label on the bottom is missing. I'll get into it soon. I love their glow. Good memory for me too Uncle. I loved the smell at the tube tester. Dad had a combo record, radio console. Befor that a combo wind up, electric record player. He loved Oprah. Long hair...

  Cool.  Even as it is.  I remember going to  a drug store with my dad that sold radio and TV tubes and had a tube tester.   Good memory.
