The Scorpion

Just finished my latest CBG. This is a solid body (filled with mahogany - incredible sustain) 4 stringer tuned GDGB. The neck is hard maple finished in black lacquer with a real ebony fretboard, fully bound with red purfling and ebony binding. Scale is 24 -3/4". Singl coil pickup with concealed poles. The V & T knobs will be changed out after I make ones with a pewter scorpion inlay. Hope you like it!

  • Looks great. Nice job.
  • Thanks on those, Strings.  Hal.  Great on this git.

  • Hal - smokin' hot build!  Well done!

  • Sorry, forgot to mention the strings.  They are DR Neon Reds, http://www.drstrings.com/#!neon-red/c1ziu. Gauges in set are 10, 13, 17, 26, 36, 46.  I used middle 4 for open G tuning. They are available in lots of different colors.  Besides the "cool" aspect, they really sound great and bends and pull-offs are sweet!

  • Hal;

    That's a REAL NICE CBG.  The first one I ever made was Black and Red too.  I love the combination.  Are those Aurora strings?  The scorpion on the body is fabulous.  GREAT JOB!!!

  • Can't give you a ten.  Nobody gets a ten.  9.99999999879.

    Hal, you did a good job telling us about it except those strings.  They interest me.  What is their story?
