Hi Kidd, thanks for the comment on the resonator. I put the pickup underneath the cone. I used a hot glue gun to fix another small circle of wood underneath which is glued through the hole in the cone to the biscuit, then hot glued the piezo to this, I found this way it wasn't to harsh with the treble, you can experement with different size thickneses to get the sound you want......by the way that is one hell off an awesome hotrod you got there!!!
Hey Kidd - Thanks for checking out my latest vid and I'm glad that my hot rod references weren't wasted. I was inspired by some of the images (like yours) I'd seen here on the nation.
Cheers bud!
Here are a few answers to your questions regarding my 5 string reso:
Pickup Type
I'm afraid I don't know. I bought the cbg originally from backporch mojo - but then modified it with the brass reso cone. The chrome magnetic pickup was what big daddy Darren Dukes had fitted. I daresay if you drop him a message he'll tell you what he used.
On my own builds I've been using 3 string pickups made by Juju - a British member here on CBN. I recently built one with a flat Pup from Klangbox.
Box Size
It's 10.75" x 7.5" x 2"
Scale Length
24.75"
Tuning
I think I was using open G tuning on that one - GDGBD
String Gauge
I think they were something like: 46, 36, 24, 17, 13
Slide Type
I use a glass, dome ended slide from Diamond bottlenecks
Amp & Settings
I'm putting the CBG through a Line 6 Pod XT Pro rack mount unit.
Any Special Effects or Stomp Boxes
I've got some compression and a bit of reverb from the Pod XT.
Is this an old song by someone else
This was just me jamming really.
You wouldn't happen to have TAB's for it
Sorry - no tabs.
