  • That's how I've been doing mine; seems plenty strong and the fretboard makes it only more so.
    Lately, I've been cutting the neck out of a solid piece of wood in profile, then gluing "ears" on as necessary. This for making shorter "bolt-on" necks for Uke or Mandolin.

    thats how i did my scarf joint on the Mayorga Build , think this method is much stronger than the other method of placing the headstock to the bottom , for one you have a much longer Glue line and two you have the added strength of the fretboard overlapping the joint

  • Bravo! I'm seeing more and more scarf joints. I like your treatment. I did the reverse where the headstock was on bottom but this seems a better solution.
