Rusty Old Truck

I think some of you might appreciate this rusty old truck bought today at (fittingly) The Rust Bucket, in Logan, Iowa for $20.00.No visible maker's mark. Needs new tires and possibly a brake job. Heavy iron. No warranty. My guess is circa 1930 to 1940. They pretty much quit making iron toys during WW II.What stories could it tell? How many boys and girls played with it and made truck sounds and maybe hauled marbles, acorns and other treasures? Who left it out in the rain? Was it a Christmas present or birthday present? Was it later passed on from father to son?It has a home again with an older boy who appreciates it. A much older boy. :)

  • Cool old truck Uncle John. Neat bit of history there.

  • Thanks, guys.   Yup, have had my tetanus shots so I am good to play trucks.   Pick, cool truck.  I worked at a gas station in the late 60s and we had a blue truck quite like the one you showed us.  Ours was blue and had a six cylinder engine and headers.   Went very slow, but sounded very fast.

  • Have you had your tetanus booster John? :)

  • What a find!
