Sweet! Beautiful brookies! I acquired a similar 'beater' banjo on ebay a few years ago, which the seller shamelessly over-rated. (Looks like a 'Kay' but no headstock label.) I did get some nice new tuners for it, and should put some effort into making it playable and presentable. Yours is a real inspiration, Frederic!

Even better knowing the story. Great job.
Hi Uncle John,
Here's the story. A friend gave me this old basket case Silvertone. (Wish I had taken some "before shots").
I cleaned it up. Put on new tuning gear, tailpiece, armrest with a wood addition that I created, and a clear head which was a killer to install.
I created a painting of the two symmetrical brook trout which is mounted to the resonator back.
It took some doing to shim and set the neck, but I lucked out cause the action is good.
Now I just have to learn to play it.
Wow! What is the story?
