indeed it makes it easier . try it on your next build . i achieve the same thing on my regular swamp witches with the vine fretboard , as you may notice the f board on them is narrower than the neck , and there is a space at the edge . this achieves the same thing. .On the flat f boards with art , i try to get the bottom string closer to the edge for the same reason .
The " rounded" edge is actually more of an angled edge (hard to see in that pic .

Look at this. Pick has done extra rounding on the bottom side of the neck to reduce slide knock and noise. Does it make things a bit easier, Pick?
I know you said some old time blues folks removed the frets for slide and did this rounding. A lot of subtle and easily unseen work goes into these.
