  • There's even one here somewhere of the pup sliding on some kinda rail over various spots along the strings, anywhere along the fretboard - above the strings.
  • If you had a thin pickup this would probably work suspended under a wide hand guard.  But if you're trying to amplify the reso, I'd just put the pup under the resonator inside the box and if the strings, then I'd just put the pup at the neck.

There have been a couple other clever ideas on this theme.  Both are posted here in the archives.  In one build a magnetic pickup is set under a heavy suspended metal bridge/tailpiece assembly.  It's a single pole magnet and coil.

Elmar of Klangbox did a cool violin pickup where the flatpup is glued to the soundboard and a magnetic coin is fixed on the stationary violin neck.  So the pup is moving and registering off the coin, not the strings.  Really clever and cool idea.

  • Ron's right...it's a frame.. We were chatting about new ideas on how to eletrify a reso guitar....and this was my thought. By building the frame, I'd be able to run the strings under the pup....like I said it was a passing thought.

  • Reeds, I think a table might be awkwardly large.  And where do you get a Lego as big as  a table?

  • with a Lego...

  • It's...a frame.
