Hosho

The hosho are Zimbabwean musical instruments consisting of a pair of Maranka gourds with seeds. They typically contain hota (Canna indica) seeds inside them. Maranka is called "Cavemans Club" here in the US. I used a hole cutter to make a nice large hole, cleaned out the crud inside, put a handful of corn in each, and closed it up with a large cork. Nice thing about these is that it's hollow all the way back in the thin part. By tipping them back, you can put half the corn in the handles. It's like having a "volumn" knob on them.
