  • Hi Eric. Nice Work!  I actually live in RI as well and have been looking for local CBG enthusiasts to connect and possibly jam with.  Let me know if you're interested. - Andy

  • Hey Eric, thanks for the good words!

I just wanted to let you know I took some "real" pictures of that reso build you commented on in the Scott ACID picture I have up.  They're here at http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/albums/redrum-reso

  • Thats pretty cool Eric! I'd like to make something like that someday! You should build it!
  • How are you and your builds. been workin alot so kinda outa touch hope all is well....Dave
  • Hi Eric, Just to let you know my progress,to me it sounds pretty good,No buzzing or rattling on the strings, been giving it a bit of a bashing all weekend(god my fingers are killing me).Had some more bashing this afternoon and was surprised to find everything is still in tune (G-D-e)? Thought I had sent you some pictures?? don't seem that you got them?

  • Hi Eric,

Thank you for your rapid response,I tried what you said and went for the A:.042 D:.032 G:0.22 from the set I had, busted 2 strings trying to get this ******* dad tuning. As you may have guessed (i'm no guitar player).I may have been a bit heavy handed, got a new packet of strings(same gauge)and tried again .WALLA, finished up with open G tuning i think,G,D,g which sounds like music to the ears, this will let me try and find all the pros and cons of the cbg.I have created. I gave you the wrong name for the video on utube it was Knotlenny you can see what i was talking about if you type in 3-StringCBG 101 in the utube search box. Thank you again for your time and effort you have made my weekendWill try and post you some pics if i can work out how to get them in.

    Thanks again Ray.

  • Hi Eric,

Got the box and arm made and assembled ready for some strings.?? This bit is given me more trouble then the building the cbg.I must have read 100/200 comments on this all  to no avail,I'm more confused than ever, some say don't tune up others say always tune down, standard tuning, open tuning,1,5,/1,3,1/I,V,VII.I guess you know were i'm coming from. I would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction,

I have a set of strings D'Addario  .011-.052Custom light. I like the sound on Knot Kenny vid. Tuned to D.A.D. what strings should I use to get this tuning (3 strings) Thank again,

  • That song is actually perfect, and I can already picture which part of the movie it would work well with.  Do you happen to have a copy without lyrics?  Wordless music always works better for soundtracks.  But I'd definitely be interested in the song, either way.  If I send you a copy of the required release form, could you mail it back with a cd? (Uncompressed files sound much better than mp3s.)  I'll pay shipping.  Thanks again so much!
  • my resonator project is still down the road, but keep me in mind if you come up with anything that might work. Starting a 4 string , then thinking of another 3 string fretless job. Good luck on the uke. Let me know how it turns out post a photo when your done.

  • THANKS

I had a good sound and tone, BUT you needed a c-clamp to press the strings to the frets.

I have the nut where it needs to be fooling around with the bridge now. I will take all the advice I can get. Ill try to post photos In a few days.   Any advice on makeing a resonator?

                                                                                                                  Thanks again
