LOL! Sorry James. Some disagree. I think they are a pain in the butt. Hard to tune and keep tuned.
Ha, on CBS, Hee Haw and Lassie. Too bad. I am pretty sure Hee Haw is still on some cable channels. I watched some a couple years back. RFD channel, I think.
Yeah, this is the first time I've dealt with friction tuners, and I kinda hate'em.
Hee Haw was originally taken off CBS during the "Rural Purge" of the early '70's, when as Pat Buttram put it "CBS canceled everything with a tree — including Lassie.".
However Hee Haw's producers put together a syndication package which allowed the show to last until 1993.
This is the only clip I've found of the plank being played on the show:
Cool. I wonder if they were sold on the Hee Haw program. I don't like the friction tuners, but hope they work okay for you. I heard Hee Haw was taken off the air even though they had a large viewing audience - because it was thought that Hee Haw watchers were not the demographic that adverisers were reaching for.
Jealous., back when I was a kid they had a $30 kit to build one of these.,., without the cool Hee Haw branding., of course I went straight to Ebay, and none to be had,...

Wow! I remember a deal on a mountain dulcimer kit, mid-70's for under $40 or so. Passed on it, unfortunately.... This is pretty cool!
