Hi Jerry. I use a cheapo bandsaw to start the shaping. I'll leave it square until the frets are added or the fretboard is glued up. The clamps work better on square surfaces. Once the fretboard is on I'll glue up the neck and install it in the body. Once again, the square shapes help in the clamping. Then I use coarse sanding belt on my cheapo belt sander to round and shape the neck. Jerry, I like pesky questions. :^)
Hey there Dave love that volute.,.,how did you do that?? bandsaw?? and how do you shape your necks? spoke shave , rasp, angle grinder? Thanks for letting me ask pesky questions :)
Ya Gary. Right again. This is about my best head yet. The little Cedar fillers are a new twist. I'm liking this bump at the top of the neck. The Adam's apple.
