Free Score - Relic Builds

“More Free Stuff”, a recent free Council Kerb Side Rubbish Removal Day resulted in my neighbours kindly depositing all this old Timber just outside my boundary fence, my first thoughts were “Aha!” free firewood for my Pizza Oven, BUT!, as I was pushing it over the fence, the CBG Builder part of what’s left of my brain kicked in, and underneath all the Crud & Dirt, all I could see was “RELIC TYPE CBG BUILDS”The first one is currently on the work bench!!:-D

  • Thanks Dave Lynas, Gary W aka Rev. Bluejeans, James O Lunsford, I do love the recycling aspect of building CBG type instruments, and heaven only knows what type of builds are hiding in all that wood, James has already suggested a Dulcimer !!!, the Pic's were taken just after Pressure Cleaning and the wood is still wet, plus it was also raining at the time, it has since been put under cover and has dried out to a much lighter colour, and after cutting a few blanks and starting on a first build, I think most of the timber is  "Corymbia Maculata" or what we call Spotted Gum, which is currently the highest volume native hardwood harvested in Queensland, so underneath the Relic Type outer layers there is a very nice looking timber which is easy to work with, so there may be a few non-relic builds hiding in there as well !!!
