Turn the handle; that bows the strings, press the keys, that pushes tangents against the strings and thus adjusts the string length which then produces the "note"!
There are two chanterelles (note producing strings) and two drones, which gives it a "bagpipe type" of sound.
There are so many nuances to getting it to sound right.String pressure on the wheel; cotton on the strings; getting the two chanters to in tune, and on and on.......

At the moment it sounds quite terrible!!!! :)
