  • FYI on the offset neck, I did this thinking that putting more of the mass of the body below the the center line of the neck would offset some the "neck heavyness" because of the long scale length. It may have helped, but the thing is still very unbalanced.
  • Thanks for the compliments and comments. This is my first CBG, I wanted it to be a bass-so I built it with a 30" scale. The neck is fretless, the cheat lines drawn on in ink. It was originally intended to have the weedwacker strings but for the first six months of use it had steel guitar strings. I just put the weedwackers on before took the pictures two days ago.

It does have single piezo pickup. It is now tuned EADG standard bass tuning, With the steel strings BEAD. I think it sounded better with steel strings,

I wish I could say it sounded great and played like a dream, but it still need a lot of work to make it so. I will post more details later.
  • Very interesting. Beautiful work, esp. the neck/head.
  • Really neat build! Like the offset neck too. Interesting how you buried the knots in the tailpiece.
  • Oh, YES! YES INDEED! Interesting that you placed the neck off center on the box, I'm curious about the strategy there. Are you using piezos? The neck is absolutely beautiful! Nice work all around! Post a vid or sound clip...Wow, that coffee sure got me Wordy, didn't it... :)
  • How is it tuned?
  • What kind of strings are these?
